Define the word grid:
a rectangular system of coordinates used in locating the principal elements of a  plan.
Why do we (designers) use a grid? What are the benefits or functions?
We use grids when we are laying out a lot of information all at once. It is also used when multiple people are trying to work on one project at the same time. It benefits the designers by making it easier and more efficient to layout their projects.
What is a modular grid?
They are the individual units of space that are separated by regular intervals, that when repeated across the page format, create columns and rows.
Define and illustrate: margins, columns, grid modules, flowlines, gutter:
Margins- negative spaces between format edge and content.
Columns- vertical alignments of type that create horizontal divisions between the margins.
Grid modules- They are the individual units of space that are separated by regular intervals, that when repeated across the page format, create columns and rows.
Flowlines: alignments that break the space into horizontal bands.
Gutterhe white space formed by the inner margins of two
facing pages in a bound book, magazine, or newspaper.
Define hierarchy:
any system of persons or things ranked one above another
Define typographic color (this does not mean color as in change it to a color):
Changes in weight, texture, rhythm, value and spatial separation.
What are ways to achieve a clear hierarchy?
Larger and darker elements appear to be at the top of the hierarchy while on the other hand smaller and lighter elements appear less important.
