Book Cover Examples



I really like the simplistic color scheme of this image. The mix of the white counter and the black background really brings out the type and image. I do not really like the type, I think it could have been a more vintage style font but overall I really like this one.









I think that this concept could be successful but I do not really like the fact that you can't read what it is trying to say. I really like the idea of hidden letters and think it could be used better than this image.







I really like this cover idea. I think the fact that it takes the type and creates an image out of it is a really successful concept. I am not overly crazy about the type chosen but I do like the fact that it is cohesive together.

Book Rebranding Ideas...

TITLE: For One More Day
AUTHOR: Mitch Albom- He is the author of two international best sellers "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" and "Tuesdays With Morrie". Those two as well as "For One More Day" have all been made into TV movies.
SUMMARY OF BOOK: Charley Benetto has had a troubled past; with the disappearance of his father, recent death of his mother, divorce of his wife, alcoholic problems, and not even being invited to his only child's wedding, he decides to commit suicide. While trying to take his own life he ends up in his childhood home, where his mother (who has been dead for a 8 years) is there. The rest of the book is a normal day in what used to be his perfect life, and he ends up realizing the true meaning of life.
FEELING OF THE BOOK: Somber, Inspirational, Genuine, Eye-opening, Heart-felt, Caring, Loving, Motivating, Moving, Encouraging, Sincere
MESSAGE: Don't take life for granted and appreciate what you have (as cliche as that is).

WHY DID I PICK THIS BOOK: I thought that the story line was inspirational and seemed to have depth. Also while reading it I had already started to think of ideas for covers.

TITLE: Perfect- A Pretty Little Liars Novel
AUTHOR: Sara Shepard- graduated from New York University and has a MFA in creative writing from Brooklyn college.
OTHER BOOKS BY AUTHOR: The entire Pretty Little Liars Series ("Perfect", "Flawless", "Unbelievable")
SUMMARY: Five girls (Allison, Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hanna) rule their school, until one night Allison disappears and is found murdered in their small hometown of Rosewood. After her death, the rest of the girls start to get blackmailed from someone calling themselves A. A knows everything, secrets that the girls had only told Allison. While the search for the murder is going on, the complications from A are making it impossible for the girls to live a normal life. Who is the murder? Who is A? Is Allison still alive?

WHY I CHOSE THIS BOOK: I thought it was out of my comfort zone and I think that it will be good for me to do something different. Plus it is one of my favorite books.

TITLE: The Lovely Bones
AUTHOR: Alice Sebold- Went to Syracuse University and University of Houston for graduate school. She was raped while at Syracuse and testified at her rapists trial.
OTHER BOOKS BY SAME AUTHOR: "Lucky" and "The Almost Moon"
SUMMARY: The book is a novel about a 14-year-old girl who is raped, murdered and dismembered. The main character tells her story from her personalized version of Heaven, looking down as her family tries to cope with her death and her killer escapes the police.
FEELING: Mystery, Heart-ache, Love, Suspense, Letting Go, Grief, Sadness, Joy, Tragedy
MESSAGE: Family will love you know matter what.
PROTAGONIST DOES...: (Susie) Tries to help her family find her killer and also cope with her tragic death.
